Globally preferred by employers, the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential denotes proven expertise in fraud prevention, detection, and deterrence. Members with the CFE credential experience professional growth and quickly position themselves as leaders in the global anti-fraud community. In fact, the ACFE’s 2008 Compensation Guide for Anti-Fraud Professionals reveals that CFEs earn 22% more than non-CFEs in similar jobs.

Requirements

1. Be an Associate member of the ACFE in good standing.  If you are not already an Associate member of the ACFE, you must first become a member to pursue the CFE credential.

2. Submit the CFE Exam application with proof of education and professional recommendations.

3. Pass the CFE Exam. The CFE Exam is a Windows-based program that tests your knowledge and expertise in the four primary areas of fraud examination: Fraudulent Financial Transactions, Legal Elements of Fraud, Investigation Methods, and Criminology and Ethics.

4. Gain final approval from the certification committee and become a CFE. You will officially become a CFE once your exam and credentials are approved by the certification committee. Those who have attained the CFE credential will be invoiced at the CFE dues rate upon annual membership renewal.

Description

Certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer™ (PTOE) is a powerful demonstration of requisite knowledge, skill and ability in the specialized application of traffic operations engineering.

The certification process, which has been adopted for professional traffic operations engineers, requires that the holder be a licensed professional engineer if he or she practices in the United States, Canada or any other country that provides governmental licensing of engineers.

Requirements

1. Have four years of Professional Traffic Operations Engineering experience;
2. Hold a valid license issued by a state, province, or other governmental body to engage in the practice of civil, mechanical, electrical, or general engineering if he or she resides in a jurisdiction that issues such licenses. The license must be valid on the date of the examination (and a valid license must be maintained to keep the certification valid).
3. If you reside in a jurisdiction that does not issue governmental licenses to practice engineering, you should attach verifiable evidence of your professional education, membership in professional organizations and other verifiable information that will establish to the satisfaction of the TPCB that you have gained a status in your jurisdiction equivalent to that of a registered professional engineer in the United States, or Canada;

International Erosion Control Association

Description

The CPESC or the CPSWQ designation identifies specialists who have met established standards of expertise, experience and knowledge. Through a process of peer review and written exams available during the IECA Annual Conference and Expo and local events, pre-approved applicants can obtain certification.

Requirements

1. Earn a BS degree or higher plus three years of professional level experience in the soil erosion and sediment control profession
2. Complete seven years or more of professional level experience in the erosion and sediment control profession.

The Association of State Floodplain Managers

Description

The role of the nation’s floodplain managers is expanding due to increases in disaster losses, the emphasis being placed upon mitigation to alleviate the cycle of damage-rebuild-damage, and a recognized need for professionals to adequately address these issues. Floodplain managers come from a variety of curricula and backgrounds; there is no college-level degree program for floodplain management. This certification program will lay the foundation for ensuring that highly qualified individuals are available to meet the challenge of breaking the damage cycle and stopping its negative drain on the nation’s human, financial, and natural resources.

ASFPM Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) This certification is awarded by the ASFPM directly to individuals who apply and successfully pass the exam, demonstrating their knowledge of the basic national standards and programs of floodplain management, but who reside or work in states where ASFPM accredited certification is not available.

ASFPM approved State Exam Certified Floodplain Manger (CFM) This certification is also awarded by ASFPM, where the state, chapter or other entity has developed an ASFPM approved state specific exam which is tailored to the standards and programs of that state, but where ASFPM continues to perform the administrative work for that state.

This certification is awarded directly by a state, ASFPM chapter, state agency, or state or regional association that has been accredited by the ASFPM Certification Board of Regents (CBOR) in accordance with the CFM Program Charter. This certification, although issued by the appropriate state or other entity, is entitled to include a statement that it is “ASFPM accredited”.

The ASFPM CFM Program is directed toward individuals from widely varying occupations, interests, and educational backgrounds who have routine floodplain management duties. This includes representatives from the following groups; community/state/federal officials, the private sector, academia, interest groups, and private citizens. For the purposes of the ASFPM CFM Program, floodplain management is defined as “Activities and efforts undertaken to reduce flood losses and human suffering and to protect the natural and beneficial values and functions of floodplains.” Anyone can apply and take the ASFPM CFM exam, except those from a state with an accredited state certification program, who must apply for and take that state’s exam. A list of certified state programs is available from the ASFPM website at www.floods.org . Under special circumstances, exceptions may be granted by the state entity for an applicant to take the national exam.

DescriptionThe EMCF examination emphasizes fundamental aspects and principles of engineering management and is designed for early career engineers and other technical professionals.  If you are an early career engineer, scientist, or other technologist intent on entering engineering management on your career path, then the EMCF credential is right for you.
Requirements
To qualify, you must hold a bachelor’s degree or global equivalent in engineering, science, or technology. EMCF certification requires at least three years of engineering practice and passage of the EMCF Exam.  For candidates without a bachelor’s degree, at least two years of education in engineering, science, or technology, plus five years of engineering practice is required to be eligible to sit for the EMCF Exam.  If, however, you hold a Master’s degree or global equivalent in Engineering Management and have less than three (3) years of work experience, you are eligible to sit for the EMCF Exam.

The EMCP examination draws from empirical knowledge and skill sets of more experienced engineering managers who want to enhance their engineering management experience through professional development.  If you are an experienced engineering professional with management experience, then you are well suited for the EMCP credential.
